Karen Bashawaty is a Traditional Psychotherapist as well as a Radical Forgiveness Therapy Practitioner. She works with adults eighteen and older and with couples. She counsels people who have issues with divorce, marital conflict, relationships, depression,
anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, sexual and verbal abuse, and most other issues. She
specializes in trauma resolution and has been specifically trained in EMDR
(Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and EFT (Emotional Freedom
Technique) for trauma relief.
Karen believes an effective therapist should have many tools in her therapy toolbox to help individuals and couples achieve improved mental and emotional health. Because people are distinctly individual, they may have a unique response to the same approach. What resonates with some will not be effective with others. Therefore, Karen is constantly learning new approaches and continues to add different modalities to her therapy toolbox in order to improve her skills.
She honors her client's courage to undertake this deep work of self-reflection; work which can be painful at moments and liberating at other moments. She is acutely aware of the vulnerability it takes to do this work, therefore, she is diligent in safeguarding her client's trust by keeping the therapeutic environment safe and her approach warm, caring and nonjudgmental. Ultimately, the relationship between Karen and her client is the healing agent. It is through a relationship of compassion and positive regard that her clients are able to confront their pain, resolve hurt, and attain peace. Karen considers it a sacred honor to accompany her clients on their healing journey.
